Beautiful bracelets help greyhounds

For the month of January 2010…all bracelet sales will benefit Arizona Greyhound Rescue located in Tucson/Marana.

You can buy bracelets at Silver Sea Jewelry & Gifts, 330 N. 4th Ave., 624-9954. They cost $20.

If you’re not local to Tucson or can’t make it to 4th Avenue, you can buy them online at Etsy’s Lizzie Stardust (+$3 shipping charge).

Bracelets are one-of-a-kind, coiled for easy on and off, one size fits most. All the beads are donated. All help benefit greyhounds this month.

Here’s a special thanks to Joan Athey who is an AGR volunteer & adopter and jewelry maker. She has donated many beautiful bracelets that we sell to raise funds for the animals. (Karyn Zoldan bought two of Joan’s bracelets. KZ sold one of Joan’s bracelets off her wrist in a restaurant!)

Got beads to donate to help animal rescues? Email: karynzoldan@yahoo.com to arrange pick up or simply drop them off at Silver Sea Jewelry.

Saffron greyhound rings in 2010

It was a very good year for the Beading Divas to the Rescue.

Please read our donation history.

Saffron, Diva Loren’s greyhound wishes everyone a good year.

In December we raised $1,460.00 for Equine Voices Rescue & Sanctuary.

In January 2010, we’re going to raise money for Arizona Greyhound Rescue (AGR). The Phoenix Greyhound Park closed (YOWZA!) and many of those dogs are now racing at Tucson Greyhound Park. Tucson race dogs are being displaced for the Phoenix dogs. It’s a negative domino effect.

AGR is picking up some of the slack.

After January 3, bracelets will be for sale on Etsy and the link will be updated.

Thanks to everyone who bought bracelets and helped animals in need.

We are the Beading Divas to the Rescue: Angy, Cynthia, Glenda, Karyn (the blogger), Lizzie, Loren, and Michelle.

The recipient of our bracelet sales for October goes to Greyhound Adoption League (GAL) in Tucson, Ariz.

Tucson has a dog racing track so there is always a dire need for retired racing greyhounds to find good homes. GAL has been busy helping Tucson greyhounds be hauled to Calif. and the NW which has no greyhound racing.

Lizzie Mead got her first two greyhounds from GAL – Lace was found in dumpster but fortunately, spoiled to the age of 15, when she died. Whiskey died at 7 of neurological disorder.

You can find an assortment of one-of-a-kind beaded bracelets at:

–Silver Sea Jewelry & Gifts – 340 N. 4th Avenue, in Tucson – (520) 624-9954

–Desert Rose Homeopathic Pharmacy – 2550 E. Ft. Lowell Road in Tucson

–online at Lizzies Stardust (etsy.com)

Bracelets are one-of-a-kind made with donated beads, one size fits almost all, easy on and off, bracelets cost $20/each + $3 shipping for online sales.

To donate beads or host an event where the Beading Divas to the Rescue can sell these bracelets for our designated cause — please contact karynzoldan@yahoo.com Put the word “bracelets” in the subject line. Thank you.

More Tucson Greyhound Bracelets are coming SOON.

We will post another message when they go online for sale. As you may know, we raised a lot of money for the vet bills by selling one-of-a-kind beaded bracelets + receiving donations.

We had so much fun making the bracelets that we formed Beading Divas to the Rescue. We continue to raise money for animals in need. The bracelets have been very popular, and we are in the process of creating more.

The bracelets are expected to be for sale online by August 19 at our new Etsy.com (TBA).

Bracelets cost $20 each; one size fits most, and they feature a sterling silver greyhound or paw fob. Beads are strung on memory wire which coils and uncoils easily, so putting on the bracelet is a breeze.

As of June 20, 2009, sales from the next 75 bracelets ($1,500) will be donated to Greyhounds2Go to help badly injured dogs coming from the Tucson Greyhound Park. (So far we have raised $945 for G2G.)

If you’re local to Tucson, you can buy the one-of-a-kind beaded bracelets at Silver Sea Jewelry & Gifts, 330 N. 4th Avenue.; 624-9954. Our Beading Divas to the Rescue motto: “Saving animals one bracelet at a time.”

Money raised goes directly  to the causes we support. You are even encouraged while at Silver Sea Jewelry to make your check payable to the charity du jour. Bracelets will soon be at two other local Tucson locations (TBA).

Thank you for your patience and the desire to purchase these bracelets made with donated beads and heart. To donate beads, contact karynzoldan AT yahoo.com

braceletfunDo you feel like making a fashionable fun bracelet for a great cause?

Silver Sea Jewelry & Gifts is hosting a bracelet making class where five lucky participants can each make a one-of-a-kind bracelet to take home. All supplies are provided — memory wire, you-pick-the-beads, and a charm of your choice.

The cost for the class and bracelet is $25 which includes two hours of instruction, a one-of-a-kind bracelet, and fun and good cheer for all the participants.

All the money will be donated to Greyhounds 2 Go to help pay for two badly injured greyhounds who have raced and retired from the Tucson dog track.

The next class is Tuesday, July 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. at 330 N. 4th Avenue (look for the mermaid in the window), next to Bison Witches cafe. Call 624-9954 to reserve your spot.  This would be a nice activity for mother/daughter or two friends or co-workers.

If you love jewelry, choosing from lots and lots of beads, and helping greyhounds — go for it!

Buy bracelets to save injured greyhounds from the Tucson dog track that otherwise might be euthanized .Coco4

Coco fell while being schooled for greyhound racing at 18 months. She broke her pelvis on both sides. The vet gave her a 50/50 chance to walk again. Greyhounds2Go decided to give her the chance to heal.

Coco had to be helped outside to go to the bathroom. A month later the pelvis is still broken but Coco is healing slowly. She still needs more healing time before being spayed. Coco has received physical therapy and pain meds. Two months later Coco continues to improve and is gaining weight and getting her strength back. When she is well enough she will be spayed.

Buy a bracelet or donate directly to Greyhounds2Go. Thank you
