New Hope cattle dog needs home

Meet me at Bookmans

Let’s learn a bit about the New Hope Cattle Dogs of Arizona and why we should all support this most deserving 501 c3 rescue group whether to buy some bracelets, make a monetary donation or check out the dogs available for adoption.

New Hope Cattle Dogs was founded in 2001. Since then they have rescued over 900 Australian Cattle Dogs (ACD) and ACD mixes. ACDs are great dogs who are very loyal, smart and active. Because of these wonderful traits, they do not do well in shelters. ACDs that get dumped in shelters tend to shut down, become depressed, fearful or even fear aggressive. It is their mission to rescue the dogs before too much damage is done to the dogs. New Hope rescues ACDs from kill lists, strays, and owner surrenders. Some of these owner surrenders occur because a person has died or become too ill to care for their dogs.

On Sunday, January 8, from noon to 2 pm – you can meet New Hope Cattle Dogs at Bookmans located at 3733 W. Ina Rd @ Thornydale, store – 579-0303 – meet Bandit, the cute dog featured above, and buy a bracelet or three.

Australian Cattle Dogs are very smart, fast, and quick learners and if not exercised mentally and physically can become problem dogs. They are the drill sergeants of the canine world. If they don’t have a strong human leader at home, they will take on the job. This can cause behavioral problems such as increased nipping, aggressive territorial demands, resource guarding. etc… Part of their mission is to help ACD owners retrain their dogs. And when that fails they try to find new homes where these wonderful dogs can get the training and exercise they need.

We will learn more about these dogs and their stories as the month progresses so bookmark us.

Many new bracelets have been added to our online store so check it out. All bracelets cost $20 + $4 for S&H. The entire $20 goes to the rescue.
