Meet Gidget

Meet Gidget

Beading Divas to the Rescue is honored to be selling bracelets for the month of October for PAWSitively Cats No-Kill Shelter. Let’s learn what they do:

This is Gidget, a beautiful kitty with a cute pink nose. A kind person found Gidget and discovered that she had been hit by a car and injured. Gidget was taken to a local cat shelter, but when she tested positive for Feline Leukemia, the shelter was unable to keep her.

Gidget was in danger of being destroyed when PAWSitively CATS No-Kill Shelter stepped in. She now resides with 40 other Feline Leukemia cats in a special house at PAWSitively CATS.

Gidget’s injury means that one of her back legs is not functional and she has a permanent limp. Still, she loves to climb cat trees, and purrs very demonstratively when allowed to climb into a lap.

You can help Gidget and hundreds of other special needs cats in the care of PAWSitively CATS by purchasing a “Beading Divas to the Rescue” bracelet during the month of October or you can make a direct donation.

Handcrafted bracelets are one-of-a-kind, made with donated beads. One size fits most and every bracelet comes with a paw charm. You can buy bracelets locally at:

PAWSitively Cats rock!

PAWSitively Cats rock!

PAWSitively Cats is a no-kill cat shelter in Tucson. Currently there are more than 300 cats on the premises that need to be fed and have their litter boxes cleaned. While some cats are looking for loving homes, many cats live out their lives in the feline leukemia house.

Last few days to buy beautiful one-of-a-kind Beading Divas bracelets to benefit the cats.

For only $10/month you can help a kitty or many kitties by joining the “PAWS Club.” It’s easy and satisfying. If 1,000 cat lovers donated $10/every month, most of the monthly expenses would be covered. Are you one in a thousand?

Here is their wishlist:

–Cat litter (any)
–Dry cat food (Kirkland, from Costco)
–Canned cat food (Friskies pate’ style)
–Cleaning supplies: bleach, laundry detergent, blue or yellow sponges, non-floral scented floor cleaner
–Reliable pick up truck, van or SUV for transporting cats and supplies
–Commercial building to house our cats (to remove the burden of paying rent!)
–Scratching posts
–Volunteers to help with cat care, cleaning, yard work, transportation, laundry, fundraising
–Grant writers
–Silk-screening for T-shirts

Donations may be dropped off at 3255 & 3261 N. Flanwill Blvd or 3432 E. Ft. Lowell between 10 am and 2 pm Mon-Sat, or you call 289-2747 to make an appointment. Small items may also be dropped off at the Petco stores in Oro Valley Market Place or 22nd St. & Harrison.

If you’re thinking about adopting a cat, you can also meet PAWSitively Cats this coming weekend at Hi Corbett Field for Oktoberfest from September 27-September 30. Hi Corbett Field is located at 3400 E. Camino Campestre (off Country Club Dr. south of Broadway).

Buy a bracelet; save a cat

The cats meow of beaded bracelets

Beading Divas to the Rescue is still raising money for the month of September for PAWSitively Cats, a Tucson-based no-kill cat shelter with more than 300 cats in the cat house.

Can you help?

Sponsoring helps to pay for food, litter, shelter, and veterinary care. You can sponsor at one of seven levels: Bronze Paw, Silver Paw, Gold Paw, Platinum Paw, Emerald Paw, Ruby Paw, or Diamond Paw.

Sponsors can pay by check, or use PayPal to choose your level of sponsorship If you sponsor a specific animal at the Silver Paw level or higher, you’ll receive a Certificate of Sponsorship with your name and your sponsored animal’s photograph, and you will also receive periodic updates about the animal you are sponsoring.

You may visit your sponsored animal on Friday or Saturday from noon to 3 pm or by appointment.

Before or after sponsoring a cat, consider buying a one-of-a-kind bracelet or two. All bracelet sales for the month of Sept. 2012 benefit PAWSitively Cats. Bracelets cost $20 and the entire $20 goes directly to the cats. If you buy online, add $5.50 for S&H. These bracelets make fabulous gifts for the young and young at heart. Many of us Beading Divas have sold these bracelets off our wrists when we’re out and about in public.

In Tucson you can buy bracelets at these locations:

–Silver Sea Jewelry & Gifts, 330 N. 4th Avenue, 624-9954
–Clues Unlimited Mystery Book Store, 3146 E. Fort. Lowell Road (SE corner Country Club), 326-8533 (closed Sun/Mon)

-*NEW LOCATION* A K Jensen Apparel, (St. Philips Plaza), 4280 N. Campbell Ave., Suite 212, 529-2775

With so many cats on the premises and so many cats that live in the feline leukemia house, this organization is in a constant mode of fundraising. Considering volunteering, doing outreach, feeding cats, and other ways to make a difference. Please share this blog post with your friends.

Adopt me!

Adopt me!

Many people have heard about the 60 cats that HOPE rescued this fall from Pima Animal Care Center (PACC).

A decision had been made at PACC to euthanize all of the cats because of few in the room were ill.

HOPE stepped up and saved all of the cats.  Some have been adopted, but most are still awaiting a place to call home, including this beautiful girl.

Silverbelle is a gentle and easygoing feline, fine with other cats and happy to meet new people.  After being homeless and then spending time in two shelters, she would love to know the peace and comfort of a loving family and home.

This is just one HOPE Animal Shelter story. There are many. For the month of November, the Beading Divas are selling beautiful, handmade one-of-a-kind bracelets to benefit HOPE. Bracelets cost $20/each and the entire amount goes to HOPE.

You can buy bracelets in Tucson at:

Silver Sea Jewelry & Gifts, 330 N. 4th Avenue in the 4th Avenue Shopping District, 520-624-9954

Or

Sissy’s Pet Grooming Salon, 7350 N. La Cholla Blvd (@ Ina/Albertsons Shopping Center), 520-229-9898

Or you can buy them online via Etsy.com (add $4 for S&H)

If you don’t want a bracelet but want to help out the charity, please visit their website.
