Tucson-Eastside: Greyt Escape is Bead Drive Contest Drop-Off
Beads are starting to come in…
The Beading Divas to the Rescue need your beads to make bracelets to benefit animal charities. So far the Beading Divas have given over $23,000 to 16 charities in 4 states by selling one $20 bracelet at a time.
And we’re running out of beads…hence, the Bead Drive.
To make it convenient for people on the Tucson’s eastside, south eastside, Tanque Verde area, and Vail, you can drop off beads at the Greyt Escape (near Freeman/Broadway) or you can take your beads to the Rincon Valley Farmers Market on Old Spanish Trail on Saturday, November 27, and look for the Greyt Escape table on the artisan side of the barn. (from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
Be sure to label your beads with your name/contact info/ and the name of a 501 c3 animal charity that you would like to win bracelet sales for Feb. 2011. A random drawing will be held in early Jan. 2011.
The Greyt Escape is a home away from home for pet greyhounds. The Greyt Escape provides doggy daycare and overnight accommodations for pet greyhounds. Dogs enjoy the comforts of home here and may not want to go home. Greyt Escape also makes accessories for dogs and people.
Contact Greyt Escape at 955-9061 to arrange a bead drop off.
Look in your jewelry box, yard sale, thrift store, craft box for beads. More bead drive info here.

You can read more about Equine Voices and where to buy bracelets in a previous message here.
Like all animal charities they need volunteers and donations. Their monthly expenses are $18,000/month! Horses eat hay and hay is expensive as well as medical costs to pay for abused horses.
The stakes are high.
You can meet Equine Voices at the Greyhound & Friends Fall Festival as well as buy bracelets.

Tucson: Beading Divas Bracelets-Equine Voices – November 2010 2010/11/01

Bracelets for the month of November 2010 will be given to Equine Voices Rescue & Sanctuary, located south of Tucson.
In the past three years, Equine Voices has saved 49 PMU mares and foals from a Canadian premarin company that has gone out of business. Due to the economy and the impending cold weather, a rancher cannot afford to keep the remaining 15 horses. If Equine Voices cannot help these 15 horses, the rancher will send them to slaughter and the horses will be consumed as horse meat abroad.
Please buy a bracelet, buy 10 bracelets, or donate directly to the charity to save these horses who have already led a miserable existence peeing into a cup in order to make the prescription drug Premarin. Rescued horses are rehabilitated and adopted into loving forever homes.
Bracelets cost $20 and are one of a kind made with an assortment of donated beads; coil around the wrist so they are easy to take on and off; one size fits most. Bracelets come with a charm. All the bracelets have been named and list the types of beads used.
You can buy bracelets in Tucson at Silver Sea Jewelry & Gifts, 330 N. 4th Avenue, 520-624-9954 or Dirty Dawgs Dog Wash, 2510 N. Campbell Ave., 777-6045 or online (add $3 S&H).
Last year the Beading Divas gave Equine Voices $1,460 in bracelet sales during December 2009. Let’s sell more this year!
And if you have gently used beads or old beaded jewelry, check out our bead drive contest.
